What does Scott Goodman do?
I'm a technology consultant and delivery partner. I design and build AI operating systems, CRM systems and automation, iOS and Android apps, and websites for growing Australian businesses, from the first audit through to implementation and ongoing support.
We're not a technology business. Is this relevant to us?
Almost certainly. The businesses I work with sell services, trades, property, education, advice and products. What they have in common is growth, a handful of software platforms that don't quite talk to each other, and staff doing work by hand that shouldn't be manual. The technology is just the means.
Do we need to know what we want before we talk to you?
No. Most businesses come to me with a symptom: leads aren't being followed up, admin is out of control, the CRM is a mess, or the board wants an AI strategy. Working out what's actually going on is the job. That's what the audit is for.
What do we get from the Technology & AI opportunity audit?
A written roadmap. Each item describes the problem, what it's costing you now as far as we can measure it, the intervention I'd recommend, a realistic cost estimate, and how we'd measure whether it worked. The audit is fixed scope, from AUD $2,500, and the roadmap is yours to act on with or without me.
Do you build apps and websites, or only systems?
Both. I design and deliver iOS and Android apps, websites and web platforms, as well as the CRM, automation and AI systems behind them. The best results usually come from connecting them, so a website enquiry or an app action flows straight into the systems that run the business.
Do you work with HubSpot and other CRMs?
Yes. I've run HubSpot at expert level, including workflows, lead nurturing, lifecycle stages, lead scoring and integrations, and I've migrated businesses from Salesforce to HubSpot. I also work with other CRMs and will recommend whatever genuinely fits the business.
Will you just recommend more software?
Only if it's the right answer. Some of the most valuable recommendations I make are to cancel subscriptions, consolidate platforms, or fix a process before touching any technology. I don't resell software and I have no reason to recommend something you don't need.
Do you do the implementation, or just the strategy?
Both. I build a lot of it myself, particularly automation, integration and AI-assisted tooling. For larger work I manage developers and vendors, and I stay accountable for the outcome either way. Strategy without implementation is how businesses end up with expensive documents and nothing changed.
Do we need AI?
Maybe. AI is genuinely useful where work involves interpreting unstructured information: calls, emails, documents, conversations. It's a poor choice for predictable rule-based tasks, where conventional automation is cheaper and more reliable. Part of the audit is telling you honestly which of your problems fall into which category.
How do you charge?
A fixed price for the audit (from AUD $2,500), fixed scope and price for build and implementation projects, and a monthly arrangement for ongoing technology advice (from AUD $1,500 a month). I avoid open-ended hourly work because it puts the risk on you.
Can you promise a return on investment?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What I do is establish a baseline before we start, build a business case for each intervention, and then measure what actually happened. Some things will pay back faster than expected. Some won't. You'll know either way.
What size of business is this for?
Typically established businesses with somewhere between 10 and 100 staff. Big enough that operational complexity has become a real cost, small enough that there's no internal technology team to deal with it. If you're outside that range, it's still worth a conversation.
Do you work with businesses outside your area, and on site?
Yes. I work with businesses across Australia, mostly remotely. For audits and larger projects, time on site in the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast, Brisbane and further afield is often worth it and easy to arrange.
